I guess that’s me. Hello my name is Steve Cherrier, and I’m a geek. (waits for chorus of, “HI STEVE!”). Yeah, I’m a geek, a nerd, a technophile — and I’m proud of it!
I’ve worked from home for about the last 10 or 11 years actually. Wow…time flies! I couldn’t imagine myself working in an office ever again. EVER! Like Ted, I get asked all the time how I do it — working from home — which is why the two of us decided to start this blog up.
Also like Ted, I’m a gadget freak. I live on sites such as Engadget and Gizmodo and am what most marketers like to refer to as an “early adopter.” I have a Blackberry Curve, a small HP tablet laptop and a gaming desktop PC with three monitors (my monitor setup has changed a bit since the photo above, but it’s still very similar). I’m also a photographer who does a lot of creative portrait work and so I have a ton of photography gadgets and equipment as well.
Like Ted, for work I do online public relations and community outreach. I run my own company with my lovely and talented wife Lila and the majority of our business revolves around the gaming industry as well.
I have a 12 year old son who pretty much has only known Dad to work from home. He is always surprised when I have to head out of the “office” for meetings, since 95% of my time is spent at home working and not externally.
So our hope with the blog is to impart some of our experience, hard knocks and words of wisdom to help those of you who also work from home survive — and maybe help those who are considering the move to working from home as well.
Drop me a line at steve AT couchworkers.com (replace the AT with @) if you have any tips, suggestions or just want to give me crap about something.
